The price for the compost is around what I would expect to pay where I live - be sure to go and look at what you are buying. I would get the compost - the dirt at your house is probably better than what they mixed with their compost to make the soil mix. If you have a place to have them dump it (and store it out of the way), it might make more sense to get 4 or 5 yards delivered - it seems like you might be doing a lot of planting eventually. If there is not much wrong with your existing soil I would make low raised beds by working 4 or 5 inches of compost into the top 8 inches of your soil. I would line it with bricks or block, it will be 6 inches + deep (which works well for me.) With that much area and the number of things that you want to grow, I would go with a few beds instead of just one large one - you will have less of the worked area used up for space between the plants. I like your videos, it seems like you are having a lot of fun and is a good way to log progress. In your garden clean up video the plant with the new plants from its base is called a "hen and chicks" or similar. Congratulations on the house and engagement. Best wishes for the future.

Well, I am supposing that you know that you need a LOT of plant material to make one drop of EO... I would distill something else first so you know what you are doing. You might get a book on distilling... not everything smells the same distilled as it does on the plant. I can't stress enough how much plant material it would take to make a half an oz of eo. I am thinking that you might get a couple drops of eo from about 5 gallons of lavender leaves...

Here is an off-the-wall question/situation for everyone: I live in Henan Province in central China and I have a big area in which I can plant anything I want. I'l like to plant one or two pomegranate trees but I am unsure of what varieties would work here. This is probably a zone 6 at worst or somewhere between zone 6 and 7. Sun all day, I'm amending the soil with cow manure and leaves at the moment, and it will get watered for a couple of year. What I need help on is what types will grow (if any) and where I can get seeds or starters? Also, any suggestions at to what other types of fruit trees would do well here? Thanks.

Way ahead of ya'.... There's a short length of PVC already in place, and *that* will be cemented in place. The 1.5" copper merely passes through. Seems that the use of perlite to make lightweight, thermal-resistant concrete is pretty much SOP. I'm trying to get a quick-set, low-slump mix, 'cause I can only work from one side - the crawl space side. Don't know if y'all have the same problem: the access hatch to the crawl space is shrinking more with each passing year.... ;-) Cheers Oh, and apologies for the double post above.
