Snow storm in the south! Babysitting the house to keep from freezing........ 9 days below freezing here & she has survived. New paint, needs shutter on bottom right. I paint over DR wallpaper- mixed paint & water to “try” to cover UV damage & where glue had turned white. The left side is with glaze & right side is original. Painting on inside is almost done ✅ Hung chandelier in the entry, Paris Flea Market by Visual. Needs more bulbs- but chandelier lift was amazing to have!

I'm an Elvis fan. I thought the movie was dreadful. Horrible, horrible editing. Occasional 3-way split screens thown in for no obvious reason, except perhaps to induce headaches. Repeated flashbacks added nothing. (Yes, we get it. He saw a gospel tent show a young boy. How many flashbacks of the same scene do we need, thrown in at random times?) Nothing at all about Pricilla's age and in fact nothing about her personality either. The briliiant musicians who were his influences were depicted as generic black guys, playing at a club that Elvis deigned to visit on the other side of town. No mention at all of Otis Blackwell, who wrote some of his biggest hits. And if you like Elvis' songs, too bad. You'll get to hear ten or fifteen seconds before they cut to another scene.

I started watching "The Thing About Pam" but I found it too depressing and chilling. It shows pretty well the way a psychopath can sometimes easily manipulate people, but it also shows how police and prosecutors can sometimes take the overly simple and easy way out. Not to give it all away, (although you can google the way the case went) the husband they pinned the murder on had three friends he was with who testified he was with them on a game night, plus he made a verifiable munchies stop at an Arby's during the time the murder took place. This was not only discounted, but if these guys LIED and gave him a false alibi, they should have been prosecuted for lying and being co-conspirators in a murder. They never followed up, which is a big red flag. That's why the feds ended up investigating the prosecutor's office after the fiasco was over. Thank goodness the husband had a good lawyer!! So that's why it was hard for me to watch, the chilling behavior of a psychopath as far as being psychologically manipulative and not having any feelings of guilt for doing some icily calculated evil. They can pass lie detector tests because of that too. And also the inane "confirmation bias" of the police, that was hard to stomach as being entertaining, even in a fictional account. After suffering through about 2/3 of "Inventing Anna" (another dramatization of the behavior of a manipulative psychopath and institutional ineptness/easy gullibility) I couldn't take it any more, so I haven't had the stomach for "The Dropout." Gonna have to give the others a try though. If you've never been around a psychopath you might find their behavior "weird" but that is only in hindsight. They really can do heinous things and not bat an eyelash, and often let themselves either "forget" or get confused about the details, they live in a world where truth is whatever suits them at the moment, they don't relate to it the way a normal person does, they perceive the world as something that revolves around their needs 24/7 and they can bend to their immediate whims in an ongoing way . . . they never reach a "bottom line" or a "moment of truth." It just doesn't exist in their mental toolbox. The mental toolboxes of science and math are ways of thinking and perceiving the world that can help us counter psychopathic influences. One can go too much into any discipline, but they are definitely a counter balance. That's one reason I went into the science field, to expand my mental toolbox.
