Trouble with posting from Photobucket

Anyone else having trouble posting images in their messages using the links from Photobucket?

I'm having to upload files to my personal website for the image source codes to work. Very frustrating as I spent a bit of time uploading to Photobucket and editing the pictures.

Which tag are you copying for use? Use the 'HTML Code' one (the 3rd one down).

I have the same problem with photo bucket - That is why I stop posting.

If you want to post photos directly into your message you need to put some HTML tags around the links that Photobucket gives you. Copy the HTML code (as momof2 suggests) and add this to the beginning of the code: type this character put this next: (no space) url and then type the opposite character > at the end of the HTML code type this character put this next: /url type this last (no space): > the reason I have to spell it out for you is that when you do it correctly it disappears. Garden Web has a page just for people to practice posts like this. Or you can just keep doing "Preview" until it looks right. The photo should show up without having to click on a link once you get you code typed correctly. Good luck. Denise example of how the HTML code disappears and only the photograph shows up

It has been in a confusing change process but this is what I do using Win7 and Opera browser. Very much like Zep's. 1. open your folder with wanted image & minimize it to get it out of the way. 2. enter photobucket user name and password (log in). 3. in new screen, left click the orange UPLOAD box. 4. maximize your folder with images and left click on the .jpg file wanted. 5. in the dialog box that appears asking if you want to upload files to smg.photobucket.com left click YES. 6. now an unrelated video opens where the pic should be -- below it is a thumbnail of your pic --- left click on that thumbnail. 7. new screen appears with larger thumb. and to the right are 4 links in boxes --- left click on the one labeled HTML --- it vanishes for a second as it copies that link to your windows clipboard (cache). At this point I paste into notepad so I can compose text to go with my pic. Or bypass that and paste the copied link wherever wanted using the right-click of the mouse to get the paste option. What size is the photo you're trying to resize? Maybe your picture is already a 'large' size. If it's 800x600 it'll be fine for posting on the web. The short cut approach is to select the photo, move your arrow to the top of the pic and a tool bar will appear. Click on Resize and then select the size you want from the drop-down. The picture immediately changes. You don't have to resize you photos each time if you let Photobucket preset the size in your upload options. 1. Click on Account Settings (drop down under your user name) 2. Then select Album Settings. 3. Select 'View upload options' (highlighted in Album Settings) 4. Now choose which size you want your photos. I use the 800x600 and find it is a good size for forums.

Its becuase you were using the IMG tag, you need to use the third one down the html tag one...

Different places require different tags...

I think photobucket is still one of the best!

I tried all the choices and each one showed a broken link icon/not the image when i previewed the message.

You need to copy the 'HTML Code' and paste it here. If you just put your mouse pointer (cursor) on the picture, the codes below become visible. Then slide you mouse straight down over the 'HTML Code' (third one down). Left click to highlight the code, then right click and select copy. Then you can paste by right clicking again into the body of the 'Message' here. Hope this helps.

Actually, the HTML Code is now the SECOND one down, which may account for some confusion.
Naaaahhhh . . .
I was confused in the beginning, when that wasnt' the case.

Hey Jeri,

On my Photobucket albums HTML Code is the third one down. It must be different for different folks, though I can't imagine why?? In any case, if one were to copy the HTML Code, it should work?

It may be different for every browser.
On mine, (Safari), it is the 3rd down.

For me (Firefox) it's the THIRD one down. HTML code.

Thanks everyone for your help. Now if I can just remember to always use the HTML code choice no matter where it appears.

You have to make sure the HTML code link is highlighted before you right click to copy it. On my computer, the link is a blue color when it is highlighted. You highlight it by left clicking on the words in the box to the right of the HTML Code line.
