Does soapy water damage Shasta flowers?

I am using soapy water to spray directly on earwigs munching on my Shasta Daisy Becky. There are usually 3 or 4 earwigs directly on the flower bud and petals. I've been going out at night and spraying them, and it does a good job. But I am noticing some brown staining and curling of the flowers...is this caused from the soapy water or just a coincidence? I am using about 4 cups of water mixed with a teaspoon of Seventh Generation dish soap. Any advice?

BTW, the earwigs are so bad this season, I've given up trying to save the veggies or butterfly bushes and just focus on saving the shastas...sigh....

Thanks,

Shelli
