It's a collector's plant. If you have to have every Echinacea, get it. Otherwise, there are better ones.

I started to answer your post, but checked my spreadsheet to make sure I had Pink Double Delight - and I don't!! LOL

The one I have is Razzmatazz - it is pink and a double - and pictures look very similar to those online of PDD. I read that PDD is supposed to be shorter and bloom earlier than Razz.

I'm very happy with Razz, but it is quite tall. Mine has been in bloom for weeks now, but everything in my garden is early this year because of our superwarm May. Anyway, Razz has grown well, bloomed it's first season in the garden, & quadrupled in size since planted in Spring of 2006.

I have trouble keeping echinaceas, even the standard ones like Ruby Giant, White Swan, and Magnus. because of my very heavy damp clay, so an ech persisting for 4 seasons in my garden is really good and somewhat special. My Razz was planted in a small hole gouged out of the clay (with about two inches of light duff on the top) near a small tree in light shade. I find trees to be helpful in sucking up excess water in my soil. I didn't expect the plant to be much more than an annual and treated it as such - go figure :))

BTW, especially nice (and surprising) is that despite the shade this rather tall plant does not lean toward the sun and stems are very sturdy.

Oh - I wonder if I got the name wrong, then. Maybe it was "Pink Double Delight". I'm stopping at the nursery after work later this afternoon, hopefully this place will have the one I saw, whichever it is. I've filed "Razzmatazz" in the mental file, too, thanks for the info on that one. :0)

Have to agree with Cool. The Double Delight is a wonderful plant but I've not been impressed with Double Decker - to the point it got yanked this year.

I'm thinking of pulling my Double Decker too, It hasn't impressed me at all, this summer is it's last chance.

All the Pink Poodles I've seen so far haven't been impressive either, of the ones I have seen, I can't tell Pink Poodle and Double Decker apart.

On the other hand Razzmatazz and Pink Double Delight have been real winners in my garden.

'Pink Double Delight' has been fantastic for me. I planted a single plant last season and have probably 50 blooms at the moment. It blooms sooner and longer than my other coneflowers, too ('Magnus' and 'Ruby Star').

I must say, though, that I do have it planted under a small flowering dogwood, and the sun is dappled. In my garden, it does lean toward the sun.

Is this what all of you are calling Double Decker? I call it Pink Poodle. It is doing very nice for me.

Mayhem, if my Pink Poodle looks like yours I'll be a happy camper. Most of the ones I've seen so far just have a little topknot, or a few stray petals coming out of the middle of the cone.

I am also very happy with my Pink Poodle. The second year in my garden, looks terrific. Definitely a keeper.
