Nepeta subsessilis - Japanese catmint

I was reading that Japenese catmint are tolerant of more moist sites and I thought it might be a good candidate for a spring wet spot I have. I need some late spring color there and thought catmint would work well.

But I went to buy some (saw 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Cool Cat') and they looked a little weedy and ratty. Maybe it was just a mid-season pot problem????

Do they look weedy in the garden?
