Kousa dogwood

brer

I planted a small Kousa dogwood about three years ago. Maybe four.

It was only about 2 1/2 feet high.

It's now about 8 feet high and, for the first time it has blossoms. But the branches are shooting up above the blossoms. Should I trim it down a bit. (Later in the fall) Will that hurt it. It seems very sprawling right now.

I have the same question about my little Japanese maple, but I'll ask it in a different post.

Thanks.
