Design for a climbing rose....

Hi,

I love gardening but have stayed clear of roses for some reason. I just bought a couple of climbers - Zephirine Drouhin to run along an 8Â wide section of my fence. I want to train the roses to climb and have a handful of questions:

1. I was planning on running wire parallel to the ground, perhaps starting about 6" up or so and spacing runs ever few inches. Does this sound like a good idea?

2. Is there specific wire that is used for this purpose? Is this something a nursery would have or a home center?

3. What do I use to tie the roses to the wire? Again, is there specific material for this?

4.Finally, what do you think about shape? IÂm thinking of a couple of different shapes. One could be just a box  wire every few inches vertically up the side of the fence Âeach run would be the same width. Or another option would be more of the shape of a Christmas tree  wider on the bottom and narrowing as I go up. The fence is 8 tall, any ideas on what you think would look the best?

Thanks for any advice  IÂm sure IÂll be hanging out here more that this forum!
