'Green Jewel' was another I bought this spring plug size. Not blooming yet but seems to be growing OK. I'll leave one flower just to see what it looks like. Hopefully someone will have more info for both you and me.

Green Jewel is new for me too this year. And, sadly, still sitting in it's 2-inch pot on the back patio. However, it did have one gorgeous bloom on it. Very clean looking, sturdy stem. It was a bit whiter than I had expected though, but I suppose it's still too early to tell. I guess I should be happy the poor neglected thing is still alive, never mind that it bloomed!

I am glad you asked this. I was thinking about posting too.

I have four Green Jewels, new this year. They are my pride and joy. I blow kisses at these flowers. LOL Out of all the flowers I have, this one is my very favorite. It positively glows in the evening. Gorgeous!

Mine are doing exceptionally well IMO. Lots of blooms that have gone on and on for a couple of months now and are showing no signs of stopping.

After reading all the negative reports on other varieties, I am hoping and praying that my precious Green Jewels continue to do well next year.

Oops! I think I made a mistake. I do have Green Jewel, but I think that bloom I referred to was actually a bloom of echinacea Virgin. When I passed the tray of Bluestone pots on my patio (yes, I have a whole tray of poor 2-inch-pot-bound new babies) I checked the tag, and the Virgin was right next to the Green Jewel. So now that I think of it, the bloom may have been a Virgin (hmm...)

Anyway, there are buds on the Green Jewel, so I will watch for them. Connie I'm glad to hear your glowing report! I gotta get these babies in the ground so they can get growing!

Could someone post a picture of their Green Jewel plants?

OK, Dee, I bought Virgin too and I have a question: Does yours still have a green center? Mine doesn't. It did at first, but now it looks just like White Swan (which I didn't notice until this year starts out with a green center).

Yummy, look at those green cone, I think this is another reason why I'm so fascinated with Echinaceas, not only the stunning new flower petal colors, the intoxicating fragrance some have and the long bloom period, it's the different vibrant color of the cones. Definitely an all round winner.

Thanks. It doesn't look like the photos they use to sell them. It looks more white. It looks better though! I like them this color.

Ech, they were more vivid green, like the pictures, when they first opened. They have lightened since then. But I like this color too!

Connie, I only had the one bloom on Virgin, and yes, the cone was green. If you mean did it stay green or did it fade, I'm not sure, as I cut it and put it in a bouquet for someone, so I don't know if the cone faded. If you mean do the cones continue to stay green as they bloom more, I haven't had any more blooms to tell yet. Sorry!

Yes, I wondered if the cones stayed green as the bloom aged. Mine was green for a while, but now has turned rust like a White Swan. But thanks for answering! It was nice of you to cut your only flower for a boquet for someone! :D

While we're talking about coneflowers, I recently saw Fragrant Angel at a nursery. MAN! Do those ever smell nice! Made me want one!

I've toyed with the idea of buying Fragrant Angel, although I never smelled one.

So, if one has all these types of coneflowers in one's garden, will they all cross polinate and make new/different coneflowers?

I don't know, Connie, lol. I guess it would have it's good points and bad.

My Green Jewel bloomed and I LOVE it! But now that I just scrolled back through the thread to see who blew kisses to their Green Jewel (I was going to post that I can see why, lol!) I notice that the photo Connie posted above shows something different than what I have. Mine are quite green, but the real difference is the petals. Mine are wider, more closely set together, and are rounder, or actually, maybe squarer is the right description. The petals don't taper to as much of a point as above.

I'll see if I can get a photo. It's such a pain in the neck because I can only upload photos on my DH's computer, not mine. I'll see what I can do.

Oh, I want to see a picture of yours Dee. Mine are the only ones I've ever seen blooming anywhere.

Well, okay, you'll have to bear with me. I used a different camera (different than my own) and I couldn't figure out how to use the manual focus, so I had to do automatic, which of course never focuses on what you want it to focus on, lol! So, the flower itself is blurry (I would have had to back waaaay out to get it in focus) but you can definitely see the color and the shape of the petals even though it is blurry.
