As might be expected from my username, I bought 6 Pink Poodle Echinacea as soon as I possibly could last spring. They were mail order so I never saw blooms prior to receiving. There weren't many blooms last year and the plants were late to show this year, so I thought I had lost them. However, they are now in heavy bloom and I am thrilled with them. They are all the large dahlia-type flowers, on sturdy stems that don't require staking. I am having to water them when the temps are above 90 degrees or else the petals look a little withered, although they perk back up overnight without additional water (the plants are in full sun, obviously). I didn't realize that I had interplanted them with orange/yellow and plain yellow gaillardia, and I imagine that sounds rather awful, but it is actually quite striking and draws many compliments. I'm sorry others have had such a rough time with these plants, but I do love them.

I have it and it's growing very slowly for me. I hope it takes off this summer, but it doesn't seem to grow as strongly as the other pink doubles called Pink Double Delight and Razzmatazz. Milkshake is a very good white double so far. Notice in all the photos of Pink Poodle they never show the entire plant. I think this might because it doesn't have good basal branching which is a sign of weakness. I'm interested to hear what others have to say about this plant so far in their gardens. Mine is a new plant I received about a month ago, but so far it's not impressing me.

Hello Echinaceamaniac I noticed you were complaining about some other echinaceas in an earlier post. I would be very interested in your comments re Razzmatazz, Pink Poodle and Pink Double Delight. I'm using them as a Frame/Border for Phlox "David", Valerian "Coccineus"/Sedum "Frosty Morn", Veronica "Royal Candles" and "Fairytale". This a new flower bed and as it takes a few years to develop, I would be very upset if the Echinaceas disappeared in a year or two. Thank you in advance.
