This container in snow--what should I do?

All my containers are milk jugs or jug-ish. I have an applesauce container, but it has a much smaller inner volume and a much larger opening at the top. I'm concerned that I won't get good condensation/heat retention in it. I have seen in pix that people will put tops such as ziplocs over things, but I don't know how something like that would work with heavy snow. I always avoided plastic wrap type tops because I assumed the snow would quickly cave them in.

I'd appreciate any advise out there for this container. Will it work just as it is with that huge opening at the top? Should I put it out now and when the snow begins to melt then put a top on it? Should I avoid it?

Thanks so much!

Deanna
