If you got most of the roots, there is no reason for concern. If roots were left, there is a theoretical possibility of root-grafting transmitting the disease. But don't hesitate to replant.

You have my sympathies, rosewylde. I'm in the process of getting rid of my Golden Showers that I've had for a couple decades--yes, RRD. Cut it to the ground yesterday, will dig up the roots tonight--all this in over 100 degree heat, I might add. Very discouraging. I know how you feel.

I'm glad you asked about replanting. I thought it was all right, but feel better having confirmation on that.

Your design of Teasing Georgia and waterfall sounds so intriguing. I hope you try it again--and give us pictures also. I'd love to see that.

I can't imagine having to deal with this disease. I wonder when our turn in Florida will come? We have NO wild roses in central Florida, so hopefully they won't make it here. They do have wild roses in the panhandle, though.

Kate, I can't begin to imagine cutting down a decades-old rose. Absolutely heartbreaking! We will both be digging roots tonight.

Floridarosez, I wouldn't wish this stuff on anybody. Blackspot and other everyday stuff on roses can be dealt with, but with RRD it's just a terrible feeling of helplessness. I certainly hope you NEVER have it in your garden.

So sorry rosewylde and dublin. I have both TG and GS and love them both. I hope you will both plant them again.

I lost my Ballerina earlier this year. However, we do have some roots that have come up and so far the growth from it looks ok, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I wasn't going to plant there again, so I'm going to see what happens.
