What do you do when the snow is deep?

I've done winter sowing, but always had a cleared off deck or patio to set my containers on when I put them out. Now I'm in the Michigan UP, on the Keweenaw peninsula and we have something called 'lake effect' snow. That means we've had over 15 FEET of snow so far this winter. It packs down quickly, but the average depth on the ground right now is about 3 feet. In most places. I live in a small town with 100+ year old houses and tiny yards. Much of our yard has 8-10 feet of snow on it right now where we've snow blowed piles trying to keep the driveway and some of the sidewalk open. I'm thinking that if I stick containers in the areas that I can reach they're going to tumble every which way as the snow melts. Any ideas? Has anyone ever had to do their winter sowing in conditions like this?
