question about winterizing my container roses

especially with summer just beginning, however I'm growing container roses one a hybrid tea, the other a florabunda.

I did plant them in a self watering containers from big buckets. basically a 5 gallon bucket with another 5 gallon bucket set inside the first that has drainage holes and cloth for a wicking action with a pvc pipe going down to the bottom of the first container for drainage.

my question is this, I live in zone 6, I do not have a garage nor a basement I could move the plants to, although I do plan to move them to a less windy side for some protection, what else should I do to protect them? I'm trying to grow the hips for seed, so will most likely prune after the leaves have fallen, and cover the pruned canes with elmores glue to protect from insects.
