Freeze damage to podocarpus gracilior

I have three podocarpus trees that were damaged by freezing temperatures last winter in Sacramento. It looks like the top 2-3 feet on all three trees died. The leaves turned brown and there isn't any new growth. However the rest of the tree in each case is sprouting new growth. I am not sure what to do. Should I trim off the top branches or the dead leaves? Should I provide some sort of supplement? Are these trees going to make it? Or, should I pull them out? They are about 3 years old and stand around 6 ft tall.
