Some pictures of what's blooming in my garden

Thought I'd share some pictures of roses that are blooming in my garden right now. The weather has been really great for the roses for the last three weeks, with temperatures in the 70's. They are really happy and putting out quite a show.

Remember Aprille, there is a rule: It is not POSSIBLE to post too many pictures of beautiful roses. It just can't be done. Every one of yours is beautiful but my favorites are Rochester Cathedral, Morning Greeting and Waterloo. Frau Eva Schubert is a darling little rose also. Thanks so much for the treat. Thanks everyone! I love the poppies both for the smaller foliage, variety of colors and shapes and also because they flower a bit longer than the others. The only thing to watch with them is that they reseed everywhere, right now I have a few popping up in the laneway! I try to pull out the overflow and keep them contained in the garden. Marg

Beautiful pics! Was about to ask if that iris was Light Shine. I also have it blooming in my garden. Unfortunately, I can't remember how I posted pics from my old computer and haven't figured out how to do it from this one. Lots of iris blooming in my yard right now. These are beautiful, Marg! I always love the purple and gold combination, and those columbines are just lovely too! Of course all of them are, though those are my favorites! The day lilies are beautiful too. Ours are just now starting to bloom, but are pretty common varieties. I'm hoping to add a few new ones either this summer or next.

Nice portraits, Jeff. I really liked the red tones on Souv. de Dr. Jamain and I'd never seen Mrs. Yamada before. Lovely. Checking for Mrs. Y on HMF, I see there are no photos yet. I hope you'll post yours.

Jeff, your roses are incredible beautiful!

I especially love Madame Gabriel Luizet, which I have never heard of.
Your Yolande d'Aragon is soo... pretty. I got mine as a band last winter and so far it has only produced one beautiful little bloom. Your photo reminds me in the very best way what an awesome rose that is.
Souv. du Dr. Jamain has a very beautiful color and I love the ruffled flowers.
The globular flowers of Coupe d'Hebe are to die for!
I think my absolute favorites is the bourbon Mrs Yamada. This rose is new to me and I would like to ask, if you can tell me a little bit more about her?

Thanks for the wonderful pictures, Jeff. I especially enjoy the old roses which don't do well in my zone, and which I can at least enjoy this way. They are exquisite and Mrs. Yamada was a wonderful surprise.

Jeff do you have neighbors close by? Do they just love you? What great roses! I was especially glad to see your Souvenir du Docteur Jamain as I have that new this year. Wonderful color and flower shape. I also really liked your Red Eden on the tripod but honestly they were all so pretty.

Thanks all for the nice comments! I really don't have many neighbors, except for the roving gangs of elk bulls. We live high up (4,700 ft) and it's pretty rural out here. Most of my friends who visit find it charming for about a day before they get the itch for the city life!

The HP's and bourbons really like it here, and I do not have serious problems with powdery mildew. Blackspot is virtually nonexistent, and I know that this is the bane of most of the hp's and bourbons. Also, I applied what I learned on this board to my garden and it has made a world of difference, especially the use of compost, manure, and organic fertilizers. Mrs. Yamada I purchased from Hortico when they still carried it. I'm not sure why they don't carry it anymore.

Can you recommend a good red climber for Ky (6)?
Also, when do you apply the manure , etc. I've already applied fertilizer to those that have had first flush and then waited 2 weeks and used fish emulsion and bone meal.
Just wondering...may help me as I have a tendency to want to do it all and it may not be necessary.If you have sort of a schedule I would sure appreciate it. Thanks again!!!

My Austins are: 2 Teasing Georgias, Iceburg, Evelyn, Crown Princess Margareta, Gertrude (GJ and Princess only ones in 2nd year)So, those I've fertilzied and such.

I haven't done anything to the others yet and will wait til first flush is over. Thanks again friend!!

I especially loved "Mme. Ernst Calvat" - just EXQUISITE! And I fell for "Distant Drums" - I had never seen it before. What lovely coloration. Great Pictures!
