Personally I would take that tank, flatten it on one side about 12 inches around, maybe heat it and use a flat metal plate and a hammer to get it flat enough to drill a nice 4 inch hole in it for an out flow the higher the better, surround it with nice rock and dirt and plant some type of vine in and around the rock. Have the water flow in from the back side of it just go over the top with the pvc as it will add a nice running water sound to the pond and let it splash into the tank. Depending where you put the drain depends on how deep the water will get. I would also put in a 2 inch drain on the bottom with it feeding somplace you want some muck to feed plants or a drain area for cleaning. Of course you would need some ball valves and pvc all fairly cheap. The tank would be perfect for a settling tank with plants,, you could have the water flow into a basket with filter media first.A valve at the input would control the water flow in case 4 inch isnt big enough for output. You have yourself a nice waterfall to make splash into the stream.If the water level needs to be higher you can reduce the 4 inch with reducers till it is at a flow you like. You could also build a nice little deck around it and us the deck for a planter. you would need to put a grid of some sort around the output to keep the plant roots and such from getting in the pipe and clogging it. For an overflow I would drill into the bottom and add a pvc pipe cut to the height of the over flow and have it drain into the pond in case your output clogs up. The connection to your tank shouldnt sit directly on the bottom of the pond i personally would have it raised up about 6-8 inches depending on the size of the fish in case you have a problem and the pump wont be able to pump out all your water and leave the fish high and dry. Just my ideas is all on what I would do.

Hi - I agree with the folks that Imidacloprid is the way to go. I don't know if it was mentioned, but they could also be hanging out in the soil and root systems, in which case a good systemic is your best best. 2TBS per gallon is reasonable - I have even had success with 1TBS per gallon if I was concerned about the plant. I have been told, though I have never personally witnessed a definitive relationship, that use of Imidacloprid may make plants more susceptible to spider mites. I am not sure why or how...but it just may be something to watch for. Good luck. Tom

Doh! "small fortune"? Eek... I hate to say it, but I got my "Hummel's Sunset" for under three bucks at either Home Depot or Lowe's... pretty sure it was Home Depot though. I just moved my "Sunset Jade"/Hummel's Sunset into a bright light position from a full sun one... to see if I can note any difference with the plant. The next trial area will be diffused light. It hasn't done badly in either so far, but I'm working on finding the "prime" spot for that one (along with others, it's the summertime shuffle to see what works best for various C&S here that are new to my collection this year). Beware of eBay... and other online sources. While I understand sometimes they are seemingly the only place to get something specific, you might be surprised what can be found without having to deal with online prices, bidding-wars, and shipping. I've been turning up some really cool specimens in the mixed shipments that Home Depot and Lowe's and other such places have been getting in, and their prices (since they are big chains and can order in bulk to distribute throughout their stores) are highly competitive. While I am a longtime eBayer myself, I see a lot of people just getting royally s****ed there ESPECIALLY on plants, seeds, and plant material. It bothers me even more when I see things intentionally misrepresented or people's fervent interest but innocent lack of knowledge being preyed upon... :(
