I'm looking for car things in the area. So far, one car museum and the Ohio River Museum in Wellsville on Sunday may be enough to give us a reason to come up...in addition to the roses, of course.

Ann, it would be wonderful to see you and Larry there. Not only would it be nice to spend a little more time with you, perhaps you could be of some help. Some of the roses in the garden are lacking labels or mis-IDd. I've offered to help organize getting them identified, but don't know the roses well enough to really do much. Some added expertise would be very nice.

I don't know about car things in the area. It's nice that Sacramento has the Towe museum, isn't it? There are a couple more rose attractions. There is a nice rose garden in Columbus, although it's mostly moderns. Last year, I went to Peter Schneider's open garden, too - he lives in Mantua, OH, which is a little more than an hour further north. He will have his first open garden day on Sunday the 14th. I'm not doing that this year, but it's still tempting. He has quite a few Lens HMs and other unusual roses. Some were for sale, an added attraction.

I'm hoping that somewhere in Ohio there's someone with a collection of Roy Shepherd's roses. He gardened in Medina Ohio and his Golden Wings is a brilliantly creative mind that may be the best single yellow rose. (Not much of a fan, am I?) He didn't intro that many roses although he worked a fairly long time at it. I check and there aren't that many roses and many of them aren't in commerce any more.
Anything I can do to help, I will.

Sunday we will probably do the Ohio River Museum in Wellsville; we've missed it twice and have been trying to visit it for about a decade now. (We found this decades old tossed out book that was water stained and that had three pages on the museum.)

With the huge history that Ohio has had in roses, there should be wonderful finds up there.

How far a drive is this from Pittsburgh? I know someone who may be interested, but wouldn't want too long a day.

Thanks Eric. Not so bad, I think. If not this year, then maybe next. I may need to arrange to be on hand to make this trip happen, and I will be elsewhere this year. But it is something I believe my father would enjoy.
