exhaust smell/damper problem
Comments (2)You will need a draft meter to adjust the damper. While the burner is firing you will check the draft "over the fire" and adjust the barometric damper accordingly. It's not uncommon to have your problem on start-up. The flue isn't warm enough yet to have a good draft. Mine has always started up on positive pressure and as the warm air established a draft, the pressure slowly went to the proper -.02 within a minute. You can install a draft inducer to help with this problem. The newer primary controls have a pre-purge cycle which helps establish a preliminary draft, and a post-purge to help cool down the chamber after the burner shuts off. Your could also have issues with poor ignition, delayed ignition, faulty nozzle, or combustion air mixture problems....See Moreoil heat exhaust smell/problem
Comments (5)You are describing delayed ignition. The puff of smoke you see is a small internal explosion. When were the electrodes last set up, filed, or replaced ? Caulking the seams will not help. They do not have to be caulked in the first place. You have to fix the ignition timing in your furnace. An oil furnace is NOT a D.I.Y. project. Call someone in. If your service tech does not have at least $2000.00 worth of test equipment in the truck call someone else. Your problem could be anything from bad oil, week pump, low pump pressure, misaligned electrodes, low voltage, partially clogged nozzel, clouded fire eye, or a dozen other things. One thing for sure there is nothing wrong with your chimney. One thing, though, caulking the seams will keep the smoke from the explosion confined to the inside of the pipe but it will not fix your problem. Good luck....See MoreBenjamin Moore Aura Problems - persistent smell months later
Comments (6)Wouldn't it be so easy just to first Google your problem? The suit also cited a number of other complaints from users, which include comments about smells akin to âÂÂrotting fish,â âÂÂbad chemical paint smell,â and reports that windows were kept open and fans used to address the odor problem. Comments (1)Direct the downspout somewhere else into the yard away from the house and the drain with standing water. Standing water usually is not a good thing (except in plumbing traps), either that pipe is blocked or sloped incorrectly. There shouldnt be dirt in there either, I am thinking its your weeping system. Old carpet on concrete usually stinks. I hate carpet on basement concrete. It is prone to getting musty quick, and is horrible for people with allergies. I recommend removing it completely. Look for a floor drain, see if the trap is primed (has water in it). Possible hidden dry drain underneath carpet....See MoreKimmsr
