New Knock Out Roses

I planted knock out roses about two weeks ago. They have good drainage, and are definitely in full sun all day. I noticed, today, that many of the leaves are yellowing, and some have black spot. Several brand new buds have come-on looking already wilted, and are like 'tissue paper' when squeezed. I bought granular rose food, mixed it in around each bush, then watered it in. This food is supposed to be an excellent source of nitrogen and potassium.

In a climate such as I live in, how much water--per bush--is 'too much'? Could this be the cause of yellowing leaves? I water about twice per week, provided we have no rain. This is by holding the nozzle down next to the base of the bush. I thought roses required much water--until established. I have also been told that knock outs require little, or no care.

Knock outs are everywhere around me. They are gorgeous, healthy and big. Please help.
