I planted L&P last summer. I came through a tough winter with little protection. It looks awesome this spring. It died back to about 8", and now it is already about 18" high and full of buds, shiny foliage and a nice shape. The flowers were nice if I cut them when they were just beginning to unfold. Nice scent.
No blackspot, although I do spray. It gets late afternoon shade. I do like it so far.

I saw it last year at Hershey Gardens and it is was one that really stuck out. It was taller than Peace (about 4 ft). What really surprised me was its good scent. The form was beautiful too.

I would love to hear from anyone on how blackspot resistant it is.

Big hulking thing, the second largest HT in my collection. almost 6' tall at the end of last season. About 2' wide. Hot pink edge on yellow petals. Does not keep a "high pointed center", so it isn't good for showing except for sprays and open bloom classes. Great substance to leaves, but I spray regularly. I wouldn't say that is it disease resistant because no HTs are here. Can't say I remember a fragrance.

Love & Peace is a lovely rose. My neighbor always comments on it when it is in bloom.

The picture below is not the best, but the only one I have. At least you can see the big fat buds and long stems and big healthy leaves. When it first opens it is usually mostly yellow, but quickly picks up that red edge around the petals, the red increasing as it ages.

I usually have to cut it down to 6-12 inches in the spring, but it grows back strongly. Mine gets about 4 ft tall, maybe 3 feet wide. The only downside for me is that it regularly suffers a bit of blackspot--usually not heavy, but almost always seems to be suffering from some. Of course, if I sprayed more often, that might help.

The rose garden I saw Love & Peace at was ripe with blackspot. I went back before I left to check out the BS damage on L&P. Considering there were bushes that were almost defoliated, L&P was in pretty good shade with just some spotting on the lower leaves. I don't exhibit, but I do like a HT bloom that's supposed to have a pinpoint center (as opposed to say the Romantica HT's with their OGR style blooms) to do just that - hold the center for at least 3 days or so. Another decorative is not what I'm looking for. Tis a pity because if I had room, the color alone would warrant Love & Peace space in my garden.

Love and Peace was my RRD fatality. It was a good HT with lots of glossy foliage and big blooms. Bloom form was not quite exhibition quality but they held together nicely. I did not detect much fragrance. Bloom colors varied with the season.

I do and I marvel everytime it blooms which it does influshes. Last time there were about forty blooms on the rose which is a little more than a year old. It is now approx, 4 feet tall, large shiny leaves. and my only complaint is tht the lower leaves have a tendency to yellow so I am always grooming.
I love it so much I gave a friend one for Christmas and now she is totally in love with the color of the blooms and the quality of the leaves.

I'm surprised that you have problems with the lower leafs. One of the best qualities of Love and Peace was its glossy foliage which was full from the feet up. You can see the entire plant (sorta) in the photo below. The blooms are washed out but the healthy foliage is obvious.

It blooms when nothing else is blooming. I can see it from my deck. Pappu's hedge looks great! If I was to grow a rose in the front of my house for others to enjoy it would be on my short list.

That said; it is not delicate or otherwise pleasing to the senses IMHO.

You all are making this hard for me. I had just about dismissed this rose as not suited for my purposes when all the praise started showing up. So another question... I saw the blooms on a cool spring day and the color was just as pictured in Harry's first photo (WOW! Harry). I particularly liked how vibrant the yellow was. But how does that yellow color hold up in the heat? Do the colors bleach and bleed out like Double Delight or do they stay as bright and distinctive?
