I got my facts from bonsainut.com they all stress to never fertilize a stressed bonsai. Only fertilize a tree that is healthy. DZ, I hate it when people take contradiction personally- such a waste of time- my only aim is to get the facts straight as I believe them- this is simply not a personal medium and my response has nothing to do with trying to lord over you. But if you are looking for enemies I'm happy to provide you with that gratification, however much I consider your hostility misplaced- better an imaginary person than a real one, I guess. I am, in fact, a fruit tree expert, and would have to be an absolute idiot not to be, given my 25 years making them my entire business and about 45 years of them being my living at least part time. I am extremely passionate about them and continue to try to get my own facts straight. I welcome contradiction as a potential learning opportunity even if it irritates me as a first reaction. I decapitate pears and apples sometimes if I want to change them to another variety as it encourages a very vigorous response and shoots I can easily graft. I don't get the same results from peaches.

it is side play, end play is good. I just pulled the gear box and impeller out of the housing. The impeller shaft snapped at the roll pin closest to to the gear box. that may account for the sideplay in the bearing. So now I have a balky carb on another 24 " Ariens of unknown vintage that works fine otherwise. I think a needle and seat will fix that. It has a single belt setup with a dog clutch to engage the blower. It doesnt look like a straight swap. I guess I'm gonna be hunting for Ariens parts.

Unless you dug a 2-3' deep trench across the root area, I really don't think it will be a problem. The volume of the 4-8 post holes you dug really, as Ken said, is very little, comparatively speaking, with the greater root mass. I would also agree that mulching is always a good idea (as widely as possible, no deeper than 4", and no mulch in the 2-4" next to the trunk), and a really, slow, deep watering won't hurt either, unless you just GOT 4" of rain in the past week. If you did, I am very envious - we've had 4" in the last 4-6 months!
