What to put in the front yard (took down bore infested Ash)

After recommendations from this board, we took down the Ash tree due to bore problems and it only coming back about 60%. Now what to replace it with? (asking again for new viewers) For now we will just level it out and grass over it. The front yard is full northern exposure with a slope halfway towards the middle then a slow grade down. In our backyard, I've had success with a plum (forgot the species, a couple of Chanticleer pears, a Van or Bing cherry tree and a Coralburst crabapple, recently planted). But this is northern exposure and in the middle of grass so it gets water from the sprinklers a couple of times a week.

Not a big lot out front and we aren't required to have a tree. So want a smallish/medium sized tree with an umbrella effect for shade.

Here is a list of trees our HOA recommends in Colorado (Denver)(smaller ones):

Crabapple Species

Newport Plum

Golden Raintree

Scrub or Gamble Oak

European Mountain Ash (don't want this one)

Hawthorn Species

Chokecherry (many neighbors have this but need to be trimmed as see them overgrown, but they're nice)

(no spruce or conifers please)
