Pyrethrin toxicity

Are pyrethrins toxic to bees and other beneficial pollinators?

I'm looking for something to discourage the Japanese beetles from taking up residence on my tree-form hydrangea (because it's too tall for me to reach with the drowning jar). I went to the nursery today, and ruled out all of what they based on label reading except the pyrethins - I didn't see anything listed on the label about bee toxicity. I'm assuming the beasts have to actually chew the leaves to injest the toxin so shouldn't be a problem for the bees and such - but not sure if I should use it, I'm on the fence.

Any advice?
