Hydrated lime on my new garden!

Help! I am starting my first garden and the advice is coming from all directions. My ex-amish friend told me to use lime on the clay soil to sweeten it up. I went to my local hardware store and the guys there sold me hydrated lime. I only sprinkled enough to cover the 10x8 ft plot to look like powdered donut coverage. Then I read that this is not good for my soil and certainly not for my plants! I didn't know this and I bought heirloom veggies and had the soil tilled with mushroom compost and vermiculite as well. Will the plants be harmed by this lime? The liming happened about 2 1/2 weeks ago. The planting happened today. Ack! Advise please!
