Have I killed my rose?

Help! the deer ate all the leaves off my old Heritage rose. I needed to move it anyway as the Western Red cedars around it had grown too tall and there was no light so the growth was very spindly. This past weekend (cold and wet) I decide to move it and discovered the deer had eaten the leaves. In frustrated I hard pruned it back to stalk and then moved it to my friend's yard. Now I am worried I've killed it! Does anyone have any recommendations on fertilizers/additives/anything I can do to promote leaf growth and save the rose?

Thank you!

Elaine
