Newbie Gardener - May have killed my rose bush

Hi, sorry if this is a completely stupid question or wrong for the forum - complete newbie here!

I've started a windowsill garden in my flat and hoping to move to a house in about 10 months, garden is a must! One of the plants I bought for my windowsill is a rose bush. It came as a dormant plant that had been dipped in wax and I followed the instructions and planted it in a fairly large pot by the window. I had some growth on it after about a week and had a couple of small branches and leaves on it, all going well. Then the curtains got closed for about 36 hours, the windowsill got a lot colder, and the little branch wilted down dramatically. I gave it a little while to see if the branch would perk up again and pruned it off when it didn't (I just remember hearing that pruning roses would make them grow). It's been a couple of weeks now and I've been watering it and it's getting lots of sun, but no new growth that I can see. Did I kill it? Is there anything I can do to salvage it? Water it more? Less? Peel off the wax? Play it Mozart? I really like roses and would love to have them in my garden eventually!

Thanks in advance for any help :)
