What leaf blower/vacuum do you recommend?
Comments (12)The new small, lightweight 4-cycles seem to be good, but with the lean-running 2-cycles with synthetic oil, smoking and fouling is reduced. Fuel economy is not usually an issue for residential use, as a 2-gal can of mix will usually serve your 2-cycle equipment for a year. I'm interested in one of these units too. My blower now is a 13-yr old Ryobi trimmer with the 'Quick-Link' (or whatever they call it) interchangable heads. This thing has been great and the blower head really works, but I'd like to have the vacuum/bag deal for getting leaves out of juniper beds, etc. This would be for very intermittent use, so I don't need a top model. BTW, the next time you have to tighten up the jug on the Ryobi, clean everything up with brake cleaner to get all oil off the bolts and threads, then use the appropriate Loc-Tite. I don't think it will come loose again. I have the same 31cc engine on mine, and realized that those bolts could be a trouble spot, but have never found them to be loose. Maybe they used a thread-locking compound on mine but didn't on yours....See MoreEcho ES-230 leaf blower- vacuum
Comments (1)Heh, yes you'd have had a happier last ten years if you'd bought one in 1997. But whaddyagonnado? That motor will last for decades - probably your whole life. And yes, with few exceptions all the high-end 2-cycle equipment carburets way cleaner, starts more easily, and runs much more dependably and consistently. They don't build there own carbs, but they buy more sophisticated ones from companies like Walbro or Mikuni. Echo/Kioritz engines are really tough, with quality ball bearings and chrome sleeves and such. You won't need to buy another blower ever, most likely....See MoreDR tow behind leaf and lawn vacuum
Comments (9)I looked at the DR and decided that whether its 5:1 or 10:1 it didn't really make that much difference. We bought a Sears Chipper Vac for our 1 acre yard with lots of Coastal Live Oaks and trees of Heaven and it has been the best purchase we ever made. We paid a bit more for the chipper attachment that shredded our 8' Xmas tree in about 20 minutes. It was straightforward to attach the deck fixture and we also bought the extension 'wand' which was great last weekend for sucking up and shredding bedding plants we had trimmed back that previously we had to rake up and load into the tractor trailer....See MoreLeaf Blower/Vacuum
Comments (3)I was research into this before. I have not found any bp vac and shred yet. I asked the same question in lawn site and the responds about the SH86 is weak at best. Go to Stihl site and watch the video on the SH86. It is slow. If you have little leaves, it might do ok, if you have lots of leaves, forget it. You better off look at electric leaf shreder. I gave up after that....See Moretom2112
