Red cedar or compost near termite colony?

I've just found out that there is a termite colony under my flower bed away from my house. I've termite control service today to monitor their activities, not in the house yet. My problem is I need to mulch my foundation bed and other flower beds along the fence. What should I use? Red cedar or compost? If I mulch the beds with wood mulch, it's like I'm feeding the termites, so is compost a better choice? However I haven't found a business offer compost in or around my town. Termites don't like cedar? Would that be okay to use it?

Any ideas?
