tiny red bug on mint plants
Comments (4)It's worth mentioning that aphids are often found without any ants hanging around. Spider mites, gill, are sooooo teeny teeny that they can be difficult to see. Are your critters that small, or a bit larger than that? I'm really thinking that you have aphids, just as sparrowhawk suggests. Do a quick google of aphids and tell us what you think....See MoreLittle tiny Red Bugs are killing my Hibiscus...Please Help!
Comments (8)Thank you for responding, tsmith2579. Before I received your response, I went to my local garden center to inquire. They told me to spray the plant with diluted dish soap and spray it into the soil as well. They assured me it was completely safe to do so. Well, I did as they suggested and the bugs seemed to die as soon as the soapy water him them. I cleaned it up and put fresh soil in the pot and set it out for a sun bath. Breathing a sigh of relief, I really thought it was going to be all good... Well, I can tell you all that what I did is apparently NOT and I repeat NOT what you do. My plant is now dead as a hammer and I am just sick over it. I have since read that maybe it was putting it out in the hot sun that did it in. I am unsure what happened. Hopefully, my misfortune will help someone else to avoid this trauma. -Frank...See Moretiny bugs on my pepper plants
Comments (6)I don't want to venture a guess as to what those buggies are, but just want to advise a good first-tier bug spray that is cheap and non-toxic... fill a squirt bottle w/rubbing alcohol and squirt in a bit of dish soap, Dawn is good- give it a shake and then spray awaay..... it kills most bugs and you can then wash it off and eat whatever....I keep several bottles out around the garden...I just use bottles that Clorox Clean-up or Lysol w/bleach, etc. came in, after they are empty...sally...See MoreTiny little bugs in soil
Comments (3)There are spring tails and thousands of species of soil mites and I have seen both in my potted plants in the past. Most of these types of critters feed on decaying organic matter but I can't help but think that an over abundance of them could be bad for a plants root system. I would use an insecticidal soap solution and water the plant well with it, should take care of the problem. I will also spray a neem oil solution on the surface of the soil after I water if there are any bugs present. Repotting might be a good idea if the plant has not been doing well and it will give you a chance to take a look at the roots. Mike...See MoreAiliDeSpain
