I've seen Seafoam (an Earthkind rose) used effectively that way.

I have several Peter Beales roses that will spill over a pot. My best one is Happy Memories. She will put out some straight canes but most fall gracefully spilling over a pot. The best description of her growth habit is like soft ringlets of hair falling softly over a little girl's face. And she's super hardy. Others I have are RoseBall and Kitty's Rose.

Carol (Carolina's) Centenaire de Lourdes would do that.

Neither Austin nor antique, but those that I can think of that would work here are Seafoam, Red Cascade, Little White Lies, Satina, Borderer, Happenstance,The Gift.

My neighbor has Red Cascade growing on and over her fence, and in addition to it being seemingly bullet-proof, it looks fantastic and grows quickly.

Another Moore rose, Sweet Chariot, spills over a small retaining wall for me quite sweetly (in appearance and scent).

Raubritter is perfect for this purpose, but it only blooms once. Another once-bloomer that would be exquisite is Nozomi - I saw it once in an urn at a Napa Valley winery, and it was incredible in full bloom. However, it is a single mini, not Austin-like in the least!

I love the Moore roses. I am still looking up all the rest. I have many walls and many pots to fill.

Where can I purchase the Moore roses? I will do some research on that, but if someone knows off hand that would be great.

Weeping China doll might be good for a pot. Also carpet roses (although modern) can be grown this way and have weeping form.

The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens had Puerto Rico growing in a large urn for a while. It was beautiful and very distinctive. I think it is a tea rose.

The larger Austins, such as Abraham Darby (my favorite!), Teasing Georgia, Janet and Spirit of Freedom will all flop if you don't prune them hard. They're beautiful, fragrant roses which should look wonderful draped over a wall, although I would think they'd all be too big for pots. Mine are all disease-free but then all my roses are. I don't grow disease-prone roses such as the bourbons so don't know how those would do in southern CA but have no desire to when we have the teas, chinas, noisettes and Austins that do well here. Noisettes would probably also work well over a wall although of course they'll get very large.

Eileen, I have one called Opal Brunner, a prettypolyaantha in shades of apricot and cream and yellow doing just what you ask. But even better at it was Nur Mahal, a huffy bright rose-red hybrid musk which clambered beautifully and was forever in bloom.

I've always thought if I had a wall to spill a rose over, I'd use 'Buff Beauty'.

I've seen this rose used this way, and it really suits the purpose. And is the "right" flower form for you.
