In hot compost- BC pills and other medicines shouldn't matter (unless radioactive). Hot compost will destroy drugs, pesticides, and even petroleum products.

How much pee? Well- that depends on the size of the pile and how much brown vs. green is in it. I could probably pee in my pile every time and it would be fine. If really worried, you can dilute it and pour over an area of lawn or fertilize the garden directly. I have a plan to write something in it this summer.

There was a thread on another site that discussed the benefits of BC pills in the garden. Evidently there's some real evidence that they produce a great effect on plants. Not sure exactly how someone discovered this benefit...

When I was younger I worked summers at a Boyscout camp. Being an all boys camp we didn't have to worry much about heading to the latrine to pee. Every cabin had a more or less designated area nearby. We'd pick a grassy spot and for the first couple weeks the grass would grow like crazy. After about 5 or 6 weeks the vegetation in that area would get burned off and die and that spot would start to smell. It was worse in summers when we didn't get alot of rain. The proceedure at that point was to get a 5 gallon bucket of water and hose the area down, then switch to the backup spot for the last couple weeks of camp. We'd spend a total of 9 weeks there per summer.
I'm not making any of that up. I'm sure different cabins delt with the problem in different ways but I stayed in 5 or 6 different cabins over 4 summers and each one worked pretty much the same.

The idea started out when a buddy expressed disbelief that you could fertilize much of anything with pee. I told him about green spots in my grass (hey- why go indoors?). I did a calculation of the %N in pee and the total amount produced in a pint a day... he was still duboious. I then found sites where people were using it- and he grudgingly admitted defeat.

I figure his initials (SFF) in 6' tall dark green letters would freak him out. Probably only make my wife shake her head.

Just imagine what the NASCAR fans could do on their lawns...I'm talking about the guys with the driver's numbers decals on their truck windows. Or what you could do to show your support for your favorite college football team...it boggles the male mind.

I'm not so enlightened, I always limited my "pee-menship" to large yellow letters in the snow. (grin)

You might remember the old joke... about who's handwriting it was... Maybe I shouldn't elaborate...

The back yard where my dogs live grows much faster than the front yard. Being dogs they pee where ever they are when the mood strikes them. When your pile stinks, it's too much pee.

I have a girl dog, and they give you a real education in the effects of the N in pee.

She squats to pee, like most girl dogs, and the results of the direct deposit are quite striking on turfgrass.

In the center of the spot, the grass is burned to beige in very short order. Around the perimeter of the spot, however, the grass flourishes.

I guess dilute N is better for grass than concentrated N.
