A leaf mulch fiasco - any advice?

Hello! I know, I know, it's been a while since I've posted here, but I've been lurking (and hanging out in the WS forum). Anyway, I have a problem.

I've used some of my leaves as mulch around the house for the past couple of years and they have worked out just fine. No probs.

Last year I made an extra effort to gather up all my leaves and use them on the property instead of paying someone to haul them away to the municipal compost pile. So I raked them up and mulched everything and felt really good about it because we had a long hard cold snowy winter and I knew the plants were protected. And sure enough, everything is sprouting well. Everything. And by everything I mean TREE SEEDLINGS. I don't know which of my trees went nutzoid with the tree seeds last year, but I have wall to wall seedlings everywhere. They are not maples. An ash is my suspect.

Anyway, do you have any advice for this prodigal on how to deal with all these *A&(#@ seedlings? *whine* ;-D

Kris
