People can go nuts at auctions -- it doesn't mean the product is worth that much. I really really want a certain clematis, but I'm not paying $15 - $20 for bare roots from someone I've never heard of. Others are, however. I wish 'em luck and hope they like the posies.

I really hope those poor people who are bidding on that rose don't expect it to be that colour! I always set limits to how much I'm willing to pay for something on ebay - also would not want to spend that much money on a rose from a vendor I don't know ... that's just crazy.

It's a rip-off, very sad. In my area all of the better nurseries have Ebb Tide, I'm waiting for a sale myself.

No no no no no! I don't know about Chamblee's, but I got two bareroots from Dutch Gardens for $19.95 apiece. They were in excellent condition. They might be sold out, now, not sure. A local nursery sells premium grade pots with gorgeous foliage already for $22.95, Ebb Tide among them.

whow a blue rose....Yea right!! All of the pictures he has on E-Bay have been retouched. Who is he kidding. I pitty the poor unsupecting person who buy it and finds out Ebb Tide a very beautiful purple color.

P.S., I wish I had waited for the nurseries to stock their roses. I would gladly have paid the extra for a potted rose with foliage already on.

Just checked out the ebay ad. That is definitely a rip-off price and NOT the color of Ebb Tide from what I understand. To be fair, though, many times a cheap digital camera will distort the deep jewel tones in photgraphs.

It looks to me to be the same photo Weeks Roses uses for Ebb Tide..just changed to blue. These roses are listed for the auction at a starting price of 99 cents. The poor buyer just didn't know. That's the nature of Ebay I guess.

I reported the seller for misrepresenting Ebb Tide. It was saying that the photo hadn't been changed in any way that did it. The seller's name is something classy like Cheap Dealz, so we aren't talking about someone who is doing their best. This person got some body bags, enhanced the photos and is ripping people off. I bought a broken toaster oven from someone like this once, so I might be more touchy but I think they should go after him and make him give refunds.

I agree janegael! I keep a nursery license, and sell extra's on EBAY, and it is frustrating to see people ripping off others like this. I emailed the seller telling them this, and also reported for misrepresenting as you did.

I'd pay $50 for that color. Think it was photoshopped by any chance?

PT Barnum was right: "There's a sucker born every minute," so somebody will buy these $50 roses. However, I have never nor will I ever pay $50 for any rose, even if it bloomed in 24 karat gold.

Ebb Tide has a variable color that is dependent on temperature. It is at its most purple when the weather is on the cool side. Otherwise, it is more magenta to burgundy or even dark red in the heat. It is not a hard rose to come by, so I would pass on an excessive price for it. It is pretty, but not always consistent.

mgleason I hope you had better luck reporting it than I did. I got an email message telling me to report it from the item page. I finally found the link and went through exactly the same steps as before and still had to provide the item number. I don't think EBay has any interest in preventing fraud.

So easy to lose one's head on ebay. It is definitley a buyer beware world out there. I have bought mail order stuff before (not on ebay) and have learned to figure in the cost of shipping etc and then decide if it is a deal and how bad to I really want or'need' it.
There ARE good deals to be had but holy &(&%#&* that was NOT one of them. What a sheister.

Hey, there is an easy way to stop crap like this, and that is to buy some of these plants so we can post negative comments. Most are going for under $10 now, so it just depends on whether or not we really want to make a point to this person.

well it seems that the seller stated it as being plum-purple. Looks like his camera is a piece of you-know-what.

People will pay 3 times what a daylily is worth--on an auction. All you need to do is find a purple daylily to sell!
An old bf of my daughter used to sell Red Bull on Ebay, along with other odd things (skateboarder videos, eg) and make his living! People don't do their homework. It is amazing.
