GH, you are incorrect. The inside air holds more moisture. Go the the calculator and put in the numbers.

I don't understand how the calc works. I put in the temp and humidity number and nothing happened. How do you get it to give you an answer?

Your mistake is in going by RH alone.

I have no way to measure anything but temp and humidity.

Inside you have water vapor pressure of 12.8 hPa. This is a measure of the absolute amount of water in the air. Outside, the water vapor pressure is 5.4 hPa. This means that the air inside the greenhouse holds less than one half of the water held by the air inside. That is why ventilating works.

What does that all mean? You said, "This means that the air inside the greenhouse holds less than one half of the water held by the air inside." I don't understand that. How does the inside air inside hold less than the water it holds inside?

The humidity outside is 76% and inside the GH it's 70%. I don't understand what you're saying.

I guess you found it. Put the RH and temp in the calculator and hit enter. It will change the rest of the numbers for you.

Basically, warm air holds more moisture than cold air. RH is just that, relative...that is, relative to the maximal amount of moisture that air at that temperature can hold.

Read my pasted post and then through the two links at the bottom of my pasted post. Then post back with questions.

Now, I have a fever, chills, and sore throat. I'm going to take some Tylenol, crawl under my down comforter, and watch Monday Night Football. I will check back tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply. When I hit "enter" nothing happens. The page just sits there. It probably doesn't work with my browser and popup blockers.

You didn't say which models you have but I've installed a few of these. 1. you need to see the word ice in the control display. 2. your bucket needs to be locked in place and fully pushed back. 3. most Icemakers won't produce ice until the Freezer has been running several hours. I usually tell my customers that they wont see ice until 12+ hours have passed. The Freezer need to get cold enough for ice and the icemaker needs to cycle a couple times before water gets to it. 4. the Freedoms seem to make their fastest ice production when the freezer is set for -4ÂºF. At least thats what their techline told me. 5. Is the water actually turned on? 6. Is the filter fully turned and locked into place? I have seen a couple units where the filter was not fully turned to lock and that shuts the water off. I hope this helps Jakvis

Moon, I got your email and I'll respond to you offline shortly. In the meantime, hang in there! I think I soooo understand your circumstances! I first embarked on my kitchen reno in December 2006, as a single woman acting as her own GC in NYC. Well, for most of 2007, it was mainly a time of false starts, turnarounds, turn backs, time outs, etc. Like you, I lost a whole lot of money -- primarily because of bad hiring decisions and lack of project clarity. I also thought I would never ever have a completed kitchen! Finally, in 2008, and with a lot of help from this forum, I got back on the horse. I bit the financial bullet and hired a licensed GC and an ID. In the end, that decision to spend more on a reliable construction team is what actually helped me to start saving money on my reno project. Plus, I'm thrilled to say that my reno was pretty much completed by spring of this year (a handful of matters still remain to be finished/resolved). BTW, in sharing that, I'm not suggesting that anyone has to go the professional GC/designer route to get a kitchen done. Heck no! There are way too many people here who have turned out fabulous DIY kitchens or acted as their own GC, etc. with marvelous results! I'm just saying that I do understand that the challenge of trying to do even the simplest of construction projects on your own can be super hard -- especially if you are an inexperienced remodeler, female, and living in the Big Apple. So, hang in there, lean more on us, and I'm sure we'll see your finished kitchens photos sooner than later!

You have zero idea of what is realistic and what isn't. Because you have not found anyone willing to work with you, to even give a basic price. And no one here knows what is doable or isn’t because you won’t take advantage of this forum’s greatest strength. Post the layout. In a separate post. Post your general location and budget desired. You will get concrete suggestions instead of generalities. Otherwise give up posting entirely. You’re not getting anywhere, because you won’t share enough information. And you’re combative and resistant to absorbing any advice at all.

i went to the site also and it just sat there. i let the page sit for some time while i looked at the forum some more (on a different tab), and eventually the page showed up (took a few minutes). i also have firefox.

When I enter the numbers, even when I'm not logged in, it updates them and gives a result. It takes a second or two, and the "Updating" shows up in the top right corner. If still not working, you can just download it. Go to Export (upper right) and click the MS Excel (xls) choice. You may have to "allow" it, (the first time the popup blocker bar appeared for me, then subsequently it asked me where I want to save the file). Click "Save to disk" and the file is yours on your computer.

I'm on IE7 but I tried it with Firefox, and it works fine and the download/export works as well.

I'll have to look for the URL again (here) as I didn't bookmark and save it since I couldn't figure out how to get it to work. I didn't understand what it all meant so it probably wouldn't have made much difference. And all I have are those things that measure humidity out in the GHs and in the sun room.

Also, I can't suck the humidity out without losing all the heat and having serious temperature drops. In the sunroom I have the opposite problem - too low humidity. I have 3 humidifiers running in there as I type this.
