Looks like a bomb went off-need ideas fast!
Comments (35)One of those days, work called so I left a bit later than planned and promptly hit traffic (forgot everyone was headed home after the holiday) I walked around Otto and looked at my options, I had decided if they had a Crocus left I was going to take it. I have looked at it every trip down but skipped buy it, was too big for one spot and might not be big enough for where I want it, but it keeps calling me. I had my list of ideas for a second, but decided I would look at all of the ones on my list and see just how they were handling the inland heat. One stood out and happy, with blooms waving with no crisping, etc (it was only 81 there when today as a high per TWC) A nice size and was on my maybe list, so Lady of Megginch it was today. I hit even more traffic trying to get back to Camarillo, barely made it to Harbor Freight Tools before they closed. So I ended up missing Nopalito before they closed for the day. I did peak at their plants and a few look interesting. Lowes of course was still open so I got my Russian Sage. I skipped the green thumb store, okay I missed the exit and had enough of traffic and was not going to try and work my way back. BUT, Lowes had $7.98 2.5 pots of Iceberg, but not just regular Iceberg, but what looks like 3 own root Icebergs, white, brilliant pink and burgundy. I had to get a pair, now to decide where to put them!...See MoreCarding Mill
Comments (7)Thank you all so much. Zeffy, I've never had photography lessons - my digital camera with the 'flower' setting gets all the credit. Roselover, Carding Mill is a lower growing rose like Tamora. But it has a sweeter scent. I hope it is as hardy a rose as Tamora - it certainly reblooms nicely like Tamora....See MoreMary Magdalyn and Carding Mill
Comments (36)My bare root rose garden is fighting that huge rain we've had the last two days and still coming. Seeing these Carding Mill shots from bare root last year give me hope that mine are going to bloom!! They look absolutely beautiful. I have a Carding Mill with two buds forming right now - we are behind you about a month it looks like. Thanks and keep em coming!...See MoreCarding Mill and Tea Clipper
Comments (7)For me Tea Clipper and Carding Mill are both strong well rounded bushes. My Tea clipper exceeds the height of Carding Mill by a good two feet, and I don't find her floppy at all. Tea Clipper is at least 6 ft tall right now, likely add a few inches to that. Like Buford says Tea Clipper is more of a peach, it reminds me of a tissue paper carnation lots of dainty petals. Tea Clipper is likely my favorite rose in my garden. It can be a bit stingy in blooms. I remember coming on this site after owning her a good 1 1/2 years complaining she had not bloomed yet. It was Buford that told me to be patient, and I was, and I'm so glad. She has a beautiful spring flush, then after that she is a repeat bloomer, never as fully in bloom as her spring flush. Carding Mill, is a bit of a disappointment to me. I loved her when I first go her before planting because she was in partial shade and her colors stayed more peach. Out in the sun she turns pink, and I'm not real pleased with her color. Carding Mill happens to be right next to Tea Clipper, so I went outside and took a photo for you. Carding Mill is to the left and Tea Clipper to the right. Neither have much bloom on them right now as I am between flushes, but you can get an idea of the size, and form in my garden. Both have some blackspot so have lost some bottom leaves, I spray but not as often as one should. The close up flower is Tea Clipper, the camera looks a bit pink here, she truely is peach. Her blooms are bigger in the spring for me, the weather has been in the upper 90s her lately so her size is a bit reduced likely to not getting enough water. Still a beauty, I think! Sorry for the fencing in front, I'm a dog lover too, and one of my dogs just enjoys digging too much!...See MoreSow_what? Southern California Inland
