Are there any yellow markings or discolorations on the leaves? Are the leaves a rich, dark green? Any evidence of mole/vole tunnels in that vicinity?

A lot of Double Delights are infected with Rose Mosaic Viruses from the moment of their propagation and they decline. If this is the main problem with yours, the only thing you can do is give it high culture: water and fertilizer and this will postpone the inevitable.

Yes, there are yellow markings on the leaves. Actually I am concerned that none of my leaves look that great. The best looking leaves are Heirloom, which gets the worst BS of the bunch.

I have a soil survey from last year, before I planted. What information from the soil survey would be helpful?

While RMV may be a problem, usually the decline is not so rapid or so dramatic as what you seem to be experiencing. RMV is reported to make a rose more susceptible to cold damage however, so perhaps that could be a contributing factor if indeed your DD has RMV.....How was the pith on the canes when you pruned this spring? How far down is the bud union buried (if at all). As Cecily suggests, you might also want to check for vole/mole/gopher activity in your area. Also many of the older HT's are not noted for their vigor, so if it had a set back during winter, it may take longer to recover.

Give it some time. It's still early in the season in your area to expect it to produce a ton of blooms.

My DD hasn't bloomed yet. Most of my roses are just beginning to.

My DD gets cruddy leaves, just the way it is. It's gotten better since I started spraying and using the Bayer instead of Daconil.

The last picture which shows a sort of purplish color on the leaves, I had a lot of that too. I think it was from the cold weather we were having while the leaves were maturing.

Usually when my roses just sit there doing nothing, I discover they are suffering from a late spring freeze and I need to cut them back--sometimes down to a few inches! As an experiment, try cutting one fairly substantial cane back several inches and see if you get clear, clean white inside the cane. If you do, you are probably OK on that score. However, if there is a bit of tan color in the center, keep cutting that cane back until you get clear white--very white--across the cut.

I'm more inclined to think those yellow-tipped leaves might have to do with a watering problem--poor drainage? too much watering? I'm not sure.

I don't think this is your problem, but remember Double Delight hates Daconil--never use it on DD.

Depending on your weather patterns, it might still be early. My DD just really starting taking off this week--and we have had perfect spring weather with no late freezes. You might not have had such good late winter/early spring/spring weather.

Check the bud union and roots for crown and root galls. I have had those in the past and the only real symptom is retarded growth and lack of bloom. That's because the galls are sapping all the nutrients before they can get into the rest of the bush.

It's not that it has no growth or buds, just less and fewer than the others. I will check around it. How would you know if you have had voles or moles? Would the plant be a bit shaky and not rooted well?

You can probe the soil around them with the concentrated spray from a spray nozzle. If you have the varmint tunnels, the water jet will uncover them. I would also get a soil test to make sure they are not getting too much love with the nutrients.
