Garden Way Owner's Manual

I just acquired a used Garden Way model 352 tiller. Can anyone tell me where I can get the owners manual for it in either paper or PDF format.

I bought one of those mini-tillers new and if a manual came with it, I will still have it.

Looked around this evening and cannot find any of my manuals but will keep looking. I am in the process of removing all my belongings from my house to have the floors refinished so it may be a while before I find it but will contact you when I do if no one else finds theirs first.

The machine has been an excellent tiller with no mechanical problems except a tune up once.

I found the manual but was unable to attach it to an email because the page did not actually give your email address. The owners manual and engine manual have both been scanned and if you let me know where to send them, I will send them tonight or tomorrow.

Hey Dave I went ahead and scanned the manual - It's only 5 pages total, the front cover, 3 pages & then the back cover. I scanned it 300dpi so hopefully there's plenty of resolution so you can get nice clean printed pages. the manual is an 8-1/2" by 11" tri-fold booklet & I emailed you 5 .jpg's - I hope your email will hold that much in one email - The 5 attachments total just over 5.08 mb! 1. Yes there are 2 little latches that you pull towards you which unlocks the door hinges, you then just pull out and up. 2. All I can say is moving it IN was a chore, but sliding it into place was the easiest part. We used lambs wool sliders, just lift up one side about 1/2" and slide it under the legs and it will slide across your floor rather easily. I personally don't even think about cleaning under my stove, to me that is the land that time forgot that is only seen maybe twice in a lifetime. 3. It only runs the bake "Burner" which is around 22,000 BTU and most of the heat goes to the top of the oven anyway. then you turn on the Convection fan and it moves that heated air around evenly. The broiler is only the broiler. 4. The convection fan will NOT turn on with the broiler on. Basically what they mean with "Convection roast" is simply that you use the "broiler pan" or similar very low sided pan so that the heated air can circulate all around the meat top to bottom. The "Convection Dehydrate" btw works rather nicely to make your own Sun Dried Tomatoes.

That's different than mine. Mine is fully automatic, and if you pull on it, it will only go as far as you pull it. Sounds like they have them set up more like the doors on certain cars or vans, and I think that makes a lot of sense. Mine has been repaired and is working now, but I have some reservations about it. The repair guys told me that I should check with Sharp about an extended warranty and if they didn't offer one to call them when my original warranty was up or nearly. I think I will do that just for peace of mind. I knew I was taking somewhat of a risk since these were brand new, but it made the kitchen layout work. I am still sold on the concept and I would probably buy it again, but I'm glad I have the cheapo countertop micro and will keep it stored somwhere until it dies. I think the potential issues are in the motor and sensors. If you can get a version that is less dependent on those, I would. It sounds like they have made some improvements; I just don't know what they are.

I also have a chian drive front tine tiller made by Garden Way Corp called a Master Till Brand but it is made by the Garden Way Corp. in Port Washington, WI not the one in NY. The tiller is a model 12044. I need a few parts for it. Does anyone know a parts source.

Garden Way, which was headquartered in Troy, NY and was best known for it's "Troy-Bilt" brand, bought Bolens in Port Washington, WI in the late 1980's. They closed the Wisconsin plant in 1997, and declared bankruptcy in 2001, selling most of their brand names and models to MTD. The economy "Garden Way" brand WASN'T picked up by MTD, so many Garden Way machines are kinda "orphaned" but since they often shared parts with Troy-Bilt, many parts are available via MTD, but figuring out part numbers can be a ......

Interesting article but what were the factors that led to GW's bankruptcy?

It seems like Troy Bilt tillers should have been a cash cow for them. They were in demand, well respected, and the high end tiller market didn't seem to have that many players.

I'm just speckulating but the histroy of the co. lead's me to view it as a mom/pop operation and they felt it was best to sell, and enjoy there retirement years, by doing the best thing,for all concerned......

As a 26-year employee of Troy-Bilt rototillers in Troy New York I can tell you that the downfall started with a gentleman call Jairo Estrada. The amount of money that the man in bezeled from the company left us in Ruins, and then Along Came another man named Bill Redmond who was the final nail in our coffin he's the one who closed the shop. It certainly was a sad day for all employees their families the city and all our customers it was a fantastic place to work when it was being run by the Done family, but then corporate greed took over and ruin a once-thriving business.
