It may get some blackspot. I'm not sure how much mine gets because I don't look at it at other times of the year after it blooms. However, it certainly does not get enough to kill the plant. Mine is fine after 15 years with little to no care - sad but true. I just enjoy its sumptuous bloom for about 2 weeks every spring. Best, Nick
Mine is rather new, but, it does well for me with no chemical support. I do grow a vigorous clematis through it because it is straggly, especially at the bottom. I also have Aloha growing with it to provide flowers through more of the season.
