Poor Louis Phillipe

I have a mentally challenged young man who helps me in the yard for a couple of hours a day. He was supposed to be pruning dead canes off my numerous Belinda's Dreams which are still having fungal cane dieback issues. Instead, he cut all the twiggy leafless bottom growth out from under L. Phillipe. Now, with no support, all of the huge top canes have collapsed leaving gaping holes in the bushes. I have propped them up with fencing, which looks terrible.

How am I going to fix this? These bushes (6) are about six feet tall and five feet wide. Am I going to have to prune them severely to shorten the drooping canes, or is there a possibility they will perhaps stiffen up on their own if I leave them propped up (wishful thinking I'm sure)?

I am just sick about this, as these bushes were absolutely gorgeous. Any advice would be appreciated.
