Tree ID - see pics

These grow locally, but I've no idea if they're native. Every year they're covered with clustered yellow flowers, which contrast nicely with the feathery, pale green foliage and greyish bark. I see them on roadsides often, along edges of parking lots, and among rocks (where large Agave americana grow). They seem to pop up in the damnedest places! Anyhow, I was hoping to find a name to go with the face, as it were.

Growing locally, Auburn to Colfax, 1,000 - 2,700 feet elevation.
