Keep pounding :( or maybe try to turn them with a pipe wrench.
They need to come out.

thanks. I thought that seemed like the only logical way. They look like they were kept well greased and there isn't any visible rust at all, but they might just be bound up inside. I'll keep pounding and soaking with penetrating oil

Hey giventake> I got the engine off. Hit the rods with a portable lback and decker hammer, works like a mini jack-hammer. More liquid wrench alternating with beating the liveing daylights out of the pins and they finally came out. thanks again

Good deal, I sould have warned you NOT to pound too hard, it's possiable to break the ears off of the mounting pads (big problem) so all is well, I use a "dry film lube" when i replace or work on anything thats cose to "dirt" I may be wrong doing that, but thats what I do, theroy being greese/oil attracts dirt
