Mine gets the same stuff every day - about 3 lbs of kitchen produce trim + ucg + eggshells, which the gets covered with about an equal volume of aged shredded wood mulch. The wood mulch comes free from our little city - they collect the tree and brush trimmings, shred it into mulch, then make it available for free to residents - 2.5 cubic yards per quarter allowance. They have piles from fresh to ~ 2 years old. I go for the six-month stuff. The daily load goes into one of two Compost Wizard tumblers - one builds for four weeks while the other turns and degrades. Christine, I also use leftover PVC pipe pieces in the tank for fry hiding places. My 125 gallon aquarium fry nursery has at least a thousand baby fish ranging from 1/2 inch to two inch fish. When the water reaches 83F or above the Breeders get really active and keep spitting out fry. The glass on the aquarium turns a bright green with algae and the fry eat that plus the fry powder that I feed them and grow extremely rapid. Sometimes the algae is so thick you cannot see through it then it completely disappears in areas where they are grazing. I use the SUNSUN HW-303B external filter on each of all the fish tanks including the glass aquarium fry nursery. It is the 4 stage unit (it has 4 stacked plastic baskets inside to hold the filter material). It keeps my water crystal clear. The suction pipe has a slotted intake that is too small to suck up any but the smallest newly hatched fish. When I see the mouth brooder has a mouthful of eggs I turn the filter off for a week or two until they are too big to get sucked up or another way I have used as to be able to keep the filter running is wrap the intake head with a fine netting and keep it in place with a rubber band. The fry grow very very quickly and will no longer be small enough to get sucked up when the netting is removed. This unit costs around $80 bucks on eBay and comes with all the hoses and pipes plus filter materials.

for summer lettuce/salad mix we made a growing bed that gets late afternoon shade. we transplant head lettuce and direct seed the lettuce for salad mix with a 4 row pinpoint seeder. we are having problems with flea beetles on the other salad mix ingredients so the mix for now is mostly small lettuce leaves. the head lettuce bolted but has remained sweet so we pull off the big leaves and wash them and bag them. demand for this during the summer way outstrips supply and we have no trouble selling out the quantity we have been bringing to the market. next summer we will grow much more. we charge $8/lb for the mix and the larger lettuce leaves. we could probably get more $ but we want these lettuce customers to be loyal when the lettuce glut hits the market and consistent price should help with that. lettuce glut is in april, may, and october, november. every vendor has it then. so easy to grow.

@Chris Powchuk I don't agree with that at all. I had an Electrolux front load. Crappy machine. Bio-stink built up on clothing. You would think after running a 2 hour cycle with warm water, on heavy cycle with extra rinses would result in clean clothing. Nope. The machine was also clean as a whistle inside and out. I kicked that machine to the curb and got an LG. Much better machine. Clean clothes and clean smelling clothes. So I do not believe they are all built the same or operate the same. I used to dry the boot and leave the door open on my Electrolux. Never any mold. I have gotten lazy with my LG and do not dry the boot but do leave the door open and again no mold. I run affresh on the tub clean cycle every now and then and that's about it. And top loads are not exempt from mold. I had a Fisher and Paykel top load at my previous house. That machine built up mold all around the outside of the tub where you couldn't see it but boy could you smell it. We had to take the whole tub out and drag it into our shower to clean it.
