Chris, You might want to try the bubble wrap - it is very light in weight and inexpensive. I've only seen photos of your type of greenhouse, but don't think the solar pool cover would be a good idea. First, it's going to cost you about least half as much as your portable g'house; the lowest cost one I saw was, I think, around $80. Also, they are quite heavy and I don't know if your frame is built to carry that kind of load, especially if you get a late snow. So far as I know, everyone uses the "clear" type of solar pool cover (it's actually kind of cloudy-clear), so lets a good amount of light through. I don't know how cost-effective it might be in that type of structure, but if you get strong, cold winds predominantly from one direction, you could probably stand a sheet of rigid foam insulation inside that wall ... just don't block the sun from coming in your south-facing wall, and try to allow in what morning and afternoon sun you can. wcgypsy, to post photos, I use Photobucket. I upload my photos there. Then, I just click on the html coding, and it automatically copies that html code to the Windows clipboard. Then, in your message response, just right click and select "Paste", and all that coding just gets pasted right into your message. And your photo will appear. You can continue copying and pasting each photo's html code right into your message (I press Enter between each photo, so the coding has a line space between each html photo code). Really easy, actually! And thanks for all the suggestions. Trying to find the least labor-intensive project possible, since my huggy will not be overly pleased with a big construction project :-) So, I'm trying to find easy but sturdy alternatives. If I can swing the Sunglo, I may go that way. I am afraid the Harbor Freight greenhouse may be a bit too flimsy for our Santa Anas that can come charging down the canyons. If I can't afford the Sunglo, I'll probably go with the Snap & Grow. I think by the time I get all the extra doo dads for the Snap & Grow, it won't be all that much less expensive than the Sunglo, which is a very high quality greenhouse, up there with a Riga. One thing that has always bothered me about greenhouses is all the space that is needed/wasted simply for human access to the plants. Be sure to take that into consideration when deciding what size greenhouse to purchase - one obviously cannot just figure the amount of plants by flat or pot size that can be grown per the square feet of the greenhouse. Also take into consideration whether space is needed for a potting bench and supplies. Something else to consider is whether the greenhouse has the structural integrity for having hanging plants - a good way to maximize growing space. Lastly, I suspect that once you have a greenhouse you will really have fun with it and will end up wanting to grow more than you expected to - it would be nice to have some extra space in the greenhouse in which to expand your hobby. Going OT, but yes the grow box windows are hinged on the low side (two windows per box). This is to keep southern winds from lifting the windows and blowing them back. It is also a convenience issue for loading/unloading because the doors to my growing room are right behind the boxes. The boxes are disassembled and put in storage when not in use. Takes an hour to assemble or disassemble each box. Not to hijack the thread, but if anyone is curious and wants something to look at I have a photo series of assembly that can be accessed here. Pics are from 2011. I set up one box two weeks ago and have been using it almost daily. The second one will be set up when I start up-potting my seedlings.

Joel, Are you talking about growing tomatoes in your greenhouse during the growing season - so you could plant them earlier, and harvest past the first frosts? I'll chime in with my opinion and experiences. We grow a lot of tomatoes in high tunnels - unheated - but are able to plant them a little earlier than the outside plants. We plant all sorts of heirlooms (mortgage lifter, black krim, brandywine, kelloggs breakfast, pineapple, etc) as well as a few hybrids - but almost all of the tomatoes we plant are indeterminate. I am confused about your black krims - because they are an indeterminate variety. I have 2 plants of my own, one in my small hoophouse, and one outside in the garden. The plant in the hoophouse is over 8' tall, and producing better than the outside plant. I honestly have found this to be the case will all the tomatoes I grow - they do better and grow taller when grown in houses. The krims do have green shoulders. So - Do you have a favorite tomato? If so - try that in your greenhouse! I adore black krim - it is on my grow list every year - as is Rose de Berne, Aunt Ruby's German Green, Brandywine, and Jersey Giant. All are indeterminate, and from my experiences - all grow well in houses. On a side note, my black cherry has taken over my home hoophouse, and is choking out 3 other tomato plants. I can't even walk thru it anymore - I have to crawl! Hope that helps!
