Are you planting these in the ground or in pots? Deja Blue is rated to zone 4. Why would it need to go inside for the winter? As a matter of fact the only one on your list that is rated above your zone is Mogador and even that may be tougher than you think. HMF lists it as growing in some very cold places all over the world. All the others are rated for you zone or lower so should be just fine planted outside all year.

I'm glad you seem to have some luck with wintering roses inside but I never recommend it. In my experience they never do well. It isn't just the light and temperatures but the humidities that are not adequate in most homes for roses to thrive. I've nursed a few very early purchases through inside under lights but it was a lot of work and they just really barely hung on until I could get them outdoors in the early spring.

hmf zone ratings are terrible. I would go with what people around your region would reccomend. Frankly, most of those roses would die for me in the first winter, or back to the crown or snow line.

Even if the zone rating at HMF is the default one you can look at the gardens tab and see where the rose is growing. I've done that many times. I look for gardens in NY, OH, IL, WI or Ont. because those are place that surround me and will have SIMILAR conditions. I have even contacted, through their message, system some of the gardeners to ask how a rose does for them. I've always received helpful information back when doing so.

I do look at gsardens tab to see where roses are growing. I am especially interested in roses growing in Russia, which is also a cold, continental climate.

My roses in the kitchen got watered frequently, probably because they were right at hand.

I have so far had fairly good results from the New Dawn progeny, and ND herself as well, so I believe I can grow Rhonda. I tipped two climbers last winter, pulled both up now, and both have survived so far. One is putting out leaves now.

They will all go in the ground. Deja Blu was the one about which I knew the least, impulse buy like I said.

This is my very first post to this wonderful site, although it has been guiding my gardening for years (including fitting 200 roses on a 0.10 acre garden). I miss my old friend but am working on my new house, new garden. In my yellow/orange bed I've had terrible trouble with Lady Emma Hamilton. I haven't seen a single bad thing written about her - but she is the only rose not thriving. Year two - deformed leaves and sparse branching. Any help. (the other roses, thriving in the border are: Golden Celebration, Molineux, Pat Austin and Amber carpet rose as an edge- purple salvia thrown in for contrast).

I once saw some plants if LEH in a nursery in CA. They had bloomed, and the color, in the CA hot and bright sun, had faded to an ugly and disgtressing pale biege. Nor was the foliage at all attractive. I began to suspect that LEH might not live up to her advertising.

Two older yellow Austins which I grew in zone 9 with excellent results were Allux Symohony and English Garden.
