They'll bloom this year. Lychnis coronaria is usually a short lived perennial. I generally get 4 years out of them, and then replace with a seedling.

Watch out. In my garden the plants reseed with wild abandon and end up everywhere. Same for Nigella. Can't tell you how many of these two plants I have pulled up and still end up with tons more.

Isn't it odd? For some this plant is almost a weed. For me, I have the hardest time just getting a few to survive each winter. I'm sure my soil is too moist and too rich for them, but if they do survive a winter they do great.

All these seedling that appeared last fall did so in a pine needle covered garden path - not the garden itself. Now I get to transplant them to where I want them.
