For want of a little oil!!

Had a slow leak on one the tires on my horse tiller. Drove the roll pin out and found the hub rusted in place very firmly!! Drilled two holes in the wheel to attach my heavy duty puller. After pulling on the two 5/16" bolts as hard as I dared, I started heating the hub over the shaft and after a lot of heating it started moving, grudgingly. Took 3 additional heating sessions to get it off. lightly filed and emery clothed the shaft and used my old wheel cyl hone to clean out the hub. Got it so it will slide on easily and put LIBERAL amounts of anti seize on both. Got new seals for both sides 'cause I figured the seals wouldn't survive that much heat. Replaced the seal on that side and did the same song, second verse on the other side. If the PO had just thought to put a little oil on them a couple of times a yr. I'm going to put anti seize on the tine shafts and hubs also. Had to heat one of them along w/ using the puller to get them loose.

Thanks for listening,

Mike
