Thanks for the responses. I am really just looking for one something with WOW factor, ya know? Something to really baby and pamper because I wont be able to believe it myself that I grew it in my own little greenhouse.

It's not unique, but for the first time ever, after years and years of failing to get an avacado to even sprout, with my GH, I have the beginnings of a small tree.

Alas, it will never be able to mature to bear fruit in the confines of my GH and wouldn't survive outdoors here, but still- it sprouted and rooted and when planted- grew!

There are lots of WOW plants and it depends upon which type of plants you are interested in. Like SB above, I'm growing mostly rare tropical fruit trees. If your greenhouse is large enough and will support the climate necessary, then many of these will WOW you!

The grumichama not only has a cool name, it is a beautiful plant and should fruit within 3-4 years. I have a huge stand of bananas in one corner and a very large jackfruit tree in the other. Dragon fruit also gets a nice reaction. Each one unique! You will soon end up clearing out your greenhouse of the other plants and begin mail ordering fruit trees!

Oh, the Dragon fruit is awesome! I am trying to be practical in all areas of the greenhouse using it for what I really need. But I would like 1 tree and I am really digging around for something that might actually grow here in Louisiana.

Not rare is easy to find and it will grow outside.
You wouldn't want it inside anyway.

The Musella lasiocarpa is pretty cool looking. I am specifically looking for something for one corner of the GH though so its gotta be able to stay inside.
I am working with my GH floor plan but right now I need to figure out what to put on the ground because I am barefooting kind of gal. LOL.
When I first got the GH built I had seedlings all over my spare bathroom and I had to move them out there right away. Now I have to wait a few more weeks so I can get everything out and into the garden so I can do the floor. I am leaning towards limestone on the wall sides and the concrete pavers in the walk path.

Mine isn't rare, but you won't find it at Walmart. Epiphyllum (night blooming cereus) with a red cedar 'tree' to support it.

The epis have moved outside now and most everything else will follow. Plants that remain in containers are heading for shade and everything else gets planted out -- soon.

It would help to know the size of your greenhouse and esp. the height.

Bird of Paradise? No, wait, you can get that at Walmart.

What about an 'epi tree' (PVC frame with cork covering like you see in GHs in Botanical gardens) with bromeliads? Wait, Walmart sells bromeliads, but you could order off for some really unusual ones.

I would not rule out something fairly common that will grow into something really uncommon with proper care. Cactus Freak has some pretty stunning specimens. Have you seen OrchidDude's pics?

Give yourself time to see what mid-summer in LA will accomodate in the GH.

Have you ever seen passion fruit flowers? They look like something from an alien world. There are several varieties that are more ornamental for their flowers than their fruit. There are some really amazing varieties out there, and can be all the more amazing if you have 3 different colored varieties side by side.
