Random greenhouse shots from today

Just fooling around today, cleaning up, repotting stuff, moving stuff that could go outside out, getting ready for the season, and took these shots. Hope you like them!

omgoodness!! that is sooo beautifull!! man if i didn't know any better, i'd think i was looking at the jungle!! but in a beauty!!!

I'm curious as to what type of covering you have on the GH?? How do you keep algae from growing on it and "crazing" over time??
One more how do you decide what to plant where??
Mine is less than 6 months old and I'm already getting way too much "shadowing" Ochids for example are growing well but not flowering to their potential. Usually a sign of not enough light thanks gary

I have been going through all my plant files and doing some reorganization. In doing this I now have a name for the ground cover in photo #9. Its name: Veronica x 'Blue Reflections'. Believed to be a hybrid between V. liwanensis and V. pectinata. Purchased from High Country Gardens Santa Fe NM. in 1998. They still show it in their catalog. Botann you now have a name. Dave

Another beautiful black cat. Midnight has such silken fur......I like your garden so much. You have a real eye for color. I didn't see too many yellows though, maybe they aren't in bloom yet. Your Hydrangea is loaded with those large blue flowers. Isn't that the result of acidic soil? I love the shade of blue they are. Your true Lilies are show stoppers. How nice it must be to sit in your garden in the early morning.......Maryl

Too, too cute! During the week following the blizzard our county was having trouble clearing sidewalks, etc., and thus we used many snowdays. My principal made it to school as did several teachers who planned to work in their classrooms. My boss e-mailed me to say she knew our school was prime bluebird habitat, that we provided great housing and food occasionally. What she didn't know, she wrote, was that I was allowing the blues access to the school building itself. Apparently one of the teachers encountered a male bluebird in a hallway and several people had to help him find his way back outside. I told my boss that things would be fine as long as he didn't figure out how to open the fridge to get his own mealworms and suet!!!! It did make me worry a bit about how he got in . . . I certainly don't want him to get trapped without food and water, but others suspect he came in through a door that was propped open during a delivery. Too funny. The whole staff now jokes about how I allow the blues the run of the building and that they hold parties on the weekends! Honestly, I wouldn't doubt the party idea. Kathy

I have plain old single thickness corrugated lexan. It gets algae but I pressure wash the inside walls 1-2 times a year.

Shadowing? Easy/ I plant all the taller plants in the inner corridor and leave beside the wall space for smaller stature plants, and I don't completely cover the walls with hanging stuff.

I have beams suspended in the interior to hang stuff from.

It better get here soon because I'm starting to get cabin fever. This has been the chilliest, darkest, dreariest, winter I can remember since moving here. My seedlings are undersized with the constant lack of sun. I feel like I'm living in England somewhere.

Today marked a very special day here: I turned off the heat in the greenhouse!!!! Hooray!!! (hopefully for good this season)

I have at least 2 more weeks to heat the GHs at night. Our last frost date it the 15th of April. But we can get a frost as late as the 20th. On the 20th (give or take a few days) I'll remove them to storage for the summer and we'll put the shade cloths on both GHs.
