Can you use Rose Tone and Bayer 3 and 1 Drench
Comments (2)Consider the following numbers: 1) The average daily uptake of nitrogen by a greenhouse rose is 70 mg (see enclosed abstract). This amounts to 2.1 grams of nitrogen per rose, per month. 2 The soil in a rose bed which receives an annual organic mulch will typically contain enough nitrogen to provide at least half of the annual nitrogen requirement of a rose. 3) The Bayer All-In-One product specifies 2 ounces every six weeks of a product which is 9% nitrogen. This amounts to 3.1 grams of nitrogen per rose, per month. 4) The Espoma Rose Tone label specifies 4 ounces every month of a product which is 6% nitrogen. This amounts to 7.2 grams of nitrogen per rose per month. 4) According to the label, 50% of the nitrogen in Rose Tone comes from synthetic, fast-acting fertilizers, chiefly ammonium sulfate. Comments (5)Thank you folks! I thought I'd do half what I would have done which would have been me spreading a little circle around the base of each plant. You guys are the best! So it sounds like the experts agree. (yippee!) Pearlgirl, I think it makes a difference but I'm not as experienced as these guys. I know some use HollyTone because it's quite similar and much less expensive in those big bags. I think the only thing missing is alfalfa. Roses are such heavy feeders that I tend to toss anything & everything in the bed. lol BTW, is anything more exciting than watching these guys leaf out in spring? I don't think so....See MoreWhat else do you do when you WS?
Comments (10)I do mine in the kitchen, too. Bag of soil in the sink, containers on the counter, my seed box and seed list on the counter behind me, sown containers on the floor, a big mug of tea across the room (sugar only, please, no soil!). I take over the room! I listen to CD's while I sow. We're planning a Spring Dance and we have to put together the play-list. So I listen to a snippet of a song while I'm filling a jug, skip to the next track, throw a few seeds in, write down the track number of the good dance-songs, skip to the next track, tape and label the jug, skip to the next song, take a sip of tea, etc. It's very nice. Only me, my cat, seeds, and music in the house. Really, really nice. Yes, I'm excited for spring to get here, but I'll miss these lovely quiet mornings with the sun coming through the windows and my sowing stuff all over the kitchen. Comments (9)I'm guessing that Rose Tone is not very "water soluble" as it is advertised as a "slow release" fertilizer.....will most likely clog up something in your injection system. Link below to Rose Tone web page.....scroll down to the link "PRINT DATA SHEET" & open.....you will see ingredients like feather meal, poultry manure, bone meal, alfalfa meal....these things are not very soluble. https://www.espoma.com/product/rose-tone/...See Moreroseseek
